When a student enrolls or reaches midterm or final point in a course, EHS can send that information to OUAC, OCAS, and/or to any post-secondary institution upon the student’s request. Once EHS has the student’s request on file, any future updates on the student’s progress (i.e. midterm or final report cards) will be forwarded accordingly.

Please note: EHS will not send course updates to OUAC or OCAS unless you have provided your reference number to us. Once your reference number is provided, we will send updated grades as processed.

Answer:

A prerequisite course is one that a student must complete before taking the next level of the subject. Prerequisite requirements are outlined by the Ministry of Education (http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/secondary/grades.html) to ensure that students are properly prepared to take a course at the next level. For example, a student must complete MHF4U before being able to take MCV4U to ensure that the student has the foundation to be successful in the higher-level course. Students can find out more information on required prerequisites by viewing the Course Outline for the courses they are hoping to take. Depending on the experience of the student, it is also possible that a prerequisite requirement can be waived, but this is done at the discretion of the EHS Principal. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain and send EHS a copy of their Ontario Student Transcript (OST), report card, or credit counseling summary. Such documents prove to EHS that the student has achieved the prerequisite for the course. If a student or parent requests that a prerequisite be waived, the principal will determine whether or not the prerequisite should be waived based upon the student’s educational level, experience, or maturity. If a student has taken a similar course in a different province or country, it could be waived as determined by course equivalency standards. Download the Prerequisite Waiver Form for further procedure.

Answer:

Your course instructor is also your exam proctor. EHS requires all the online courses to have a Live Proctoring Exam as the final evaluation of student’s achievement. The course instructor supervises the exam remotely via webcam.

Answer:

A proctored exam is associated with having an individual (proctor) overseeing an exam and monitoring the students. A proctor significantly impacts an exam’s validity and integrity with airtight invigilation. In case a student violates the code of conduct, a proctor can discontinue the test and report the matter to the institution conducting the assessment.

Answer:

To obtain the official Ontario Provincial Transcript, the student simply needs to send an email request to the school Admission Office (admissions@elitehighschool.com) with providing OEN number and Student ID by the student’s registered email, and the student will receive the PDF transcript whenever it is issued upon completion of the course.

Answer:

EHS online learning management system offers the most flexible study schedule for each of the students. If students intend to take the study along with a timetable, it can be customized over the discussion with the course instructor in the Zoom meeting; agreed by both student and teacher, the timetable will be presented on the student’s portal.

Answer:

A full-time student is required to enroll in at least 7 courses in a school calendar year.(http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/document/forms/enrol/2019-20-enrolment_register_instructions.pdf)

Answer:

Assessments and activities within the online courses must take into account the strengths, needs, learning expectations, and accommodations identified in the student’s IEP. Accommodations may include reducing the workload, simplifying tasks and material, and providing more time for learning and completing activities. The assistance of other persons and the use of specialized equipment may also be required to accommodate the student’s needs. Additionally, EHS’s self-paced model naturally offers accommodation. One of the main benefits is that students can work at their own pace and spend as much or as little time on the lessons as needed to understand the concepts. Other benefits include the following:

  • Students can use assistive technologies that they have access to and with which they are familiar.
  • Some of our courses offer Read-Speaker—a tool that reads the text on the page out loud and highlights the words that are being spoken.
  • Our courses include text, video, interactive activities, and many hands-on practice opportunities.
  • Where possible, the assessments allow students flexibility in the medium or to format the use of unique tools with which to present their ideas—choose to write a paper, give an oral presentation, or create a visual.
Answer:

Yes, EHS welcomes students living anywhere in the world. To complete your course, you need a computer or a laptop and a good internet connection.
